TOP Wind will be implemented by a consortium composed of theEuropean Wind Energy Association (EWEA – which is the project leaderand hosts the TPWind Secretariat), Garrad Hassan and Risoe/DTU. Theproject will be operational from 1st February 2011 to 31st January 2014and, according to a recent TPWind newsletter, "will ensure the growthof the Platform and its proper functioning in the years to come."
The TOP Wind project will act as a voice for the EU Wind energyindustry and R&D community, gathering and disseminating informationon wind power R&D, drafting strategic plans for the development ofwind energy in Europe, contributing to the development andimplementation of relevant EU energy policies and providing memberswith a permanent forum focused on wind energy research.
In 2011, TPWind’s 175 members will focus on developing the 2013 –2015 EWI (European Wind Initiatve) Implementation Plan, which willreplace the current plan covering the 2010 – 2012 period and which waspublished by the European Commission in 2010.
Meanwhile, a working group will develop a new Grid Integrationstrand for the EWI, in order to avoid overlap with the EuropeanElectricity Grid Initiative (EEGI).
