Projects designed to improve energy efficiency could receive up to EUR 115 million in EU funds that would otherwise go unspent following the European Parliament’s approval of European Commission proposals for further funding under the European Energy Recovery Programme (EERP).
The EERP, which began in 2009 with a budget of EUR 3.98 billion, provides support to projects including carbon capture and storage, windfarms and electricity interconnectors. Out of the EUR 3.98 billion, EUR115 million has yet to be committed and a change in the rules isrequired to re-allocate the unspent money by the end of 2010.
