JRC presents key findings of Strategic Technology Agenda at SI-Ocean Conference.

18/08/2014
In June 2014, the final conference of the IEE-funded SI Ocean (Strategic Initiative for Ocean Energy) project took place in Dublin. The SI Ocean project aimed at identifying and delivery a common strategy to ensure the progress and growth of the wave and tidal energy technologies, maximising installed capacity and market size.

JRC, one of the six partners of the project, was responsible for the drafting of the Strategic Technology Agenda, in collaboration with the University of Edinburg, The Carbon Trust and WavEC. Key finding from this work were presented in Dublin, as an introduction to an open-floor discussion on the technical barriers faced by the sector. In order to help the sector grow, the Strategic Technology Agenda proposes a twin stream of actions; the first looking at aiding and proving technological development; and the second aimed at facilitating deployment of pre-commercial arrays and reducing risk.
