The eighth Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) Conference is to take place on 21-22 September 2015 at the European Convention Centre Luxembourg, during Luxembourg’s Presidency of the European Union Council.
The event is to be hosted by myenergy GIE, the Luxembourg national structure for energy consultancy, on behalf of the country’s Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure and Ministry of Housing, with the support of the European Commission.
The programme for the opening day of the conference includes sessions on accelerating the transformation of the European energy system and towards a competitive European technology sector. Sessions on the second day of the conference will cover consumer participation in energy transition, energy efficient systems, European leadership in developing the next generation of renewable energy technologies and financing challenges in the energy sector.
The European Commission’s Energy Union strategy, adopted in February 2015, dedicates one of its five dimensions to research, innovation and competitiveness. The integrated SET-Plan will play a central role in a new European energy R&I approach designed to accelerate the energy system transformation.
Within this context, the Conference will represent a unique forum for all stakeholders to exchange information on new SET-Plan developments in response to the great energy challenges facing the European Union. It will be held back-to-back with an Energy Ministers informal council in Luxembourg, thereby placing research and innovation in energy at the heart of the Luxembourg Council Presidency.
