The next deadline for submitting projects for labelling under the EUROGIA2020 programme (CALL 04 - for the submission of transnational low-carbon energy related research and development projects) is on March 2, according to information on the programme’s website. EUROGIA2020 is a bottom-up, industry-driven, market-oriented programme which addresses all areas of the energy mix, from renewable energy to efficiency, and reducing the carbon footprint of fossil fuels.
All innovative project ideas that reduce the carbon footprint of energy production and use potentially qualify for the EUROGIA label. Receiving the EUROGIA label facilitates the access of project ideas to national and regional funding, while at the same time increasing a project’s profile among interested customers. Although the label is very selective, the goal of EUROGIA2020 is to help important collaborative project ideas to become a reality. Between 2008 -2013, a total of 29 transnational projects, representing close to EUR 200 million in project costs, were labelled.
The process is one of continuous submission with 4 cut-off dates per year. The next cut-off date is March 2, 2015 by close of business, with another cut-off date on May 25. The first submission phase involves submitting a project outline. Once the project outline has been completed and submitted, the project coordinator will then be invited to make an oral presentation in front of the EUROGIA2020 Technical Committee.
During the second phase, the applicants will be invited to submit a full project proposal. This will then be evaluated by the Technical Committee, which will make its recommendations to the EUROGIA board which will, in turn, decide on labelling the project.
The Technical Committee consists of representatives from European national funding agencies, research universities and industrial organizations. Successful national funding is helped by the fact that the public authorities from EUREKA member countries liaise closely with EUROGIA2020 throughout the project evaluation process.
