In 16 June 2015, the European Commission published the Renewable energy progress report 2015, which, in accordance with the requirements set out in the Renewable Energy Directive, provides a mid-term assessment of the progress of the EU and its Member States towards the 2020 renewable energy targets. This EU-wide report is based on the national reports provided every two years by the Member States and includes an assessment of the feasibility of a 10% renewable energy target for transport, the sustainability of biofuels and bioliquids consumed in the EU and the impacts of this consumption in accordance with the requirements of the Directive.
"The report shows once again that Europe is good at renewables, and that renewables are good for Europe. We have 3 times more renewable power per capita in Europe than anywhere else in the rest of the world. We have more than 1 million people working in the renewable energy sector worth over 130bn euros a year. We export 35 billion euros worth of renewables every year," said Miguel Arias CaƱete, Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy.
