The potential for offshore wind farms to meet a large proportion of our energy requirements is almost unlimited, and interest in building more offshore wind farms is increasing. But cost remains a major barrier. The EU-funded EERA-DTOC project has produced a tool - Wind & Economy - that helps minimise the cost of planning, developing and operating offshore wind farms.
