In all these initiatives, first-of-a-kind demonstration projects play a central role in the efforts to accelerate the technologies market roll-out. However their implementation is far from straightforward. These projects still represent significant technology and market risks and require important funding resources that depart from conventional financing engineering of industrial projects.
In order to raise awareness of possibilities for funding first-of-a-kind commercial demonstration projects that generate revenues/cash flows at European level and to identify potential gaps on the current funding instruments, the Commission organised a dedicated expert workshop. The objective of the workshop was to stimulate information exchange between the SET-Plan industrial stakeholders and the financing community.
The workshop consisted of two sessions organised back to back on 20-21 June 2011:
Session 1, 20 June - focused on Wind, Solar PV and H2&FCs
Session 2, 21 June - focused on Bioenergy, CCS, CSP and Nuclear
